LBMA Japan, a general incorporated association, will be hosting the 3rd Location Information Awards 2025 to recognize noteworthy initiatives by member companies that utilize location data, such as those that have "popularized location-based business, marketing, and services" or "made a social impact." This award aims to contribute to market growth and revitalization, and also to honor these achievements.
The LBMA Japan Board of Directors selected five Excellence Award winners from among the applications submitted, including those self-nominated and recommended by member companies.
The winner will be announced on December 15th, following a member vote.

Details of the Final Nominees
All five of the selected cases significantly evolve traditional business models by combining location data and related technologies.
1. Trade Area Report AI (Giken Shoji International Co., Ltd./Data Insight Co., Ltd.)
・Official Name: "Trade Area Report AI" AI instantly interprets massive amounts of data, enabling anyone to gain a sophisticated understanding of trade areas.
・Innovative: Utilizing generative AI, this case automatically creates sophisticated trade area analysis reports from massive amounts of data.
・Features: Giken Shoji International, a two-time award winner, collaborated with Data Insight to integrate AI functionality into GIS tools under the philosophy of competition. This enables anyone to perform highly accurate analysis, furthering the intelligent use of location data.
2. CITY INSIGHT Road Maintenance Support Service (Nightley Co., Ltd.)
・Official Name: CITY INSIGHT Road Maintenance Support Service
・Innovative: Utilizing diverse data, this case achieves efficient road infrastructure management and digital transformation in local governments.
・Features: Centered around Nightley Co., Ltd.'s analysis tool "CITY INSIGHT," this project integrates and analyzes diverse data from multiple companies. It presents a new form of social infrastructure management through public-private partnerships. Its widespread adoption among local governments is also noteworthy.
3. MetCom x Blog Watcher: Practical Application of "Level Separation Based on Height Information" Technology Using 3D People Flow Big Data (MetCom Co., Ltd./Blog Watcher Co., Ltd.)
・Official Name: MetCom x Blog Watcher: Practical Application of "Level Separation Based on Height Information" Technology Using 3D People Flow Big Data
・Innovativeness: Using barometric pressure sensing technology, accurate height information is accurately sensed and incorporated into people flow data.
・Features: By linking MetCom Co., Ltd.'s height sensing technology with people flow data from Blog Watcher Co., Ltd., this project enables 3D people flow analysis, including building floors. This technology has already been adopted for testing by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and has been recognized for its progress toward concrete social implementation.
4. "Shufoo! Visitor Tracker" (ONE COMPATH, Inc.) - Highly Visible Store Visits
・Official Name: "Shufoo! Visitor Tracker" - Highly Visible Store Visits
・Innovative: We have made it possible to visualize the effectiveness of the digital flyer service "Shufoo!" by linking it with actual store visit data.
・Features: In collaboration with member company unerry Inc., we analyze the customer attraction effect of flyer distribution by user attributes, frequency, and trade area. By combining data other than location data, we provide specific insights into the effectiveness of promotional measures, contributing to maximizing advertising effectiveness.
5. Don Quijote's Walking Signage: A New Way to Attract Inbound Tourists with Location Data and Pop Culture (unerry Inc.)
・Official Name: Don Quijote's Walking Signage: A New Way to Attract Inbound Tourists with Location Data and Pop Culture
・Innovative: By combining "walking signage"—people carrying signage on their backs—with location data, we've implemented a new advertising engagement method for attracting inbound tourists.
・Features: unerry Inc., Don Quijote, and other companies partnered to operate walking signage in areas frequented by foreign tourists. By disseminating information in target languages, this initiative is attracting attention as a new approach to O2O (Online to Offline) advertising, maximizing engagement with specific demographics.
Summary
The nominees for the 3rd LBMA JAPAN Location Information Awards clearly demonstrated how location data is enabling more advanced problem-solving and social implementation through "competition"—using AI, 3D information, and data integration with other companies. These examples prove that they are at the core of concrete digital transformation and social change in a wide range of areas, including infrastructure management, retail promotion, urban planning, and inbound tourism. It is expected that this award will draw even more attention to the evolution of location information businesses and their social impact. The Grand Prize winner will be announced on December 15th.
