MetCom × Blogwatcher Realize Practical Application of "Layer Separation by Altitude Information" Technology with 3D Human Flow Big Data

MetCom Inc. / Blogwatcher Inc.

[Case Summary]

MetCom and Blogwatcher have collaborated to transform human flow data, which had previously been limited to two-dimensional visualization, into three dimensions. Using "layer separation" technology based on smartphone barometric pressure sensors, they can directly extract movement lines belonging to specific altitudes, such as underground passages, elevated decks, and particular building floors. Application in urban planning and transportation fields, including transfer analysis and facility internal flow analysis, is progressing. Having been adopted for a demonstration project by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), its societal implementation is accelerating.

Don Quijote Pedestrian Digital Signage: New Inbound Customer Acquisition using Location Data × Pop Culture

unerry Inc.

[Case Summary]

The Don Quijote Pedestrian Digital Signage Project is an inbound customer acquisition measure executed through collaboration among Don Quijote, unerry, and manufacturers.

Based on unerry's location data, areas and routes with a high volume of international visitors were identified. Don Quijote characters carry multi-language digital signage while walking through the city, forming a consistent customer acquisition path from the streets to the sales floor. The core of this initiative is the fusion of pop culture-style presentation and data science based on location information. Using the signage's beacons and unerry's AI, store visits and purchases by ad contacts were measured, achieving a data-driven PDCA cycle.

As a result, the store visit rate for those exposed to the signage increased, particularly among Chinese travelers, where the visit rate was approximately 3.2 times that of non-exposed individuals. The utilization of location data enhanced the value of the digital signage advertising, contributing to the revitalization of the inbound tourism market.
